Pet Memorial Portraits

The portrait you wish you’d had.

When a photoshoot isn’t possible, a beautiful portrait still is. Made from photos you already have, personally reviewed by a working pet photographer — not auto-generated and shipped sight unseen. A keepsake worthy of the wall, or your money back.

Dave Breen — Breen Photo

Not every pet portrait service is the same.

You’ve probably seen the ads — the ones promising a “magical AI portrait of your pet” for $50, delivered from somewhere you’ve never heard of by people you’ll never meet. Most of those are pure automation: upload, pay, ship, done. No one looks at your dog’s face. No one notices if the eyes came out wrong or the markings are off. If it doesn’t look like your dog, that’s your problem.

That’s not what this is.

I’m Dave. I’m a working pet photographer based in Monroe, NY. I’ve been photographing dogs professionally for years, and I personally review every portrait that leaves here. If it doesn’t look like your dog, you don’t get it. If I can’t make one that does, you get your money back.

Step by step

How it works.

Six steps. Your proofs are usually ready within 48 hours — hand-reviewed by Dave before they reach you.

1

Send me three photos.

The clearer the face, the better. Old phone snaps work. Photos from years ago work. Just send the ones where their personality comes through.

2

Choose three art styles.

Each style evokes a different mood — from soft and gentle to richly painterly. Pick the three you think will fit your pet best.

3

We start working on your proofs.

Each of your photos runs through your three chosen styles. You’ll get an email once the work begins.

4

Dave curates the keepers.

Before any portrait reaches you, Dave personally reviews every proof and keeps only the ones that meet his quality bar — at least one strong portrait per style, often more. Quality over quantity. Usually within 48 hours of your order.

5

Pick your favorites.

One favorite per style. The full-resolution files unlock when you’re ready.

6

Take them home.

Three high-resolution digital files arrive in your inbox. Add a ready-to-hang canvas, or order additional prints from my pro print lab any time.

The honest answer

Honestly? Here’s how this is different.

Yes, AI is part of the process — and yes, that’s also true of most pet portrait services you’ve seen advertised. The difference is what happens next.

At those sites, the AI is the whole product. Upload, pay, get whatever comes out, ship. If it doesn’t look like your dog, that’s just how it goes.

Here, the AI generates options — and then I review every single one. I throw out the ones with strange eyes, wrong markings, distorted features, or anything that just doesn’t feel like your dog. The portraits that reach you are the ones I’d put my name on.

That’s the part you can’t automate. And that’s why this exists.

What it costs

Three ways to remember them.

Starting at $29, every approved portrait is delivered as a high-resolution digital in your private gallery. Canvas, framed prints, and metal prints are available from the same gallery through my pro print lab.

The Promise

The Keeper Guarantee.

If I can’t deliver at least one portrait worthy of your dog, you get your money back. No back-and-forth, no “store credit” runaround. That’s not a return policy — it’s the bar I hold the work to before it ever reaches you.

About Dave.

I’m a professional pet photographer based in Monroe, New York, serving Orange, Rockland, and Bergen Counties. Breen Photo is my business — not a side hustle, not a dropshipping store, not an app. When you order a Forever Portrait, I’m the one reviewing your photos, curating the results, and standing behind the work.

Want something more custom?

If the standard process isn’t quite enough — a specific vision, more than three photos to draw from, or a larger or specialty print format — let’s talk. I’ll work from your full photo collection and collaborate with you on the setting, style, and finish until it matches what you’re imagining.

I’ll respond within a day with a few questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your portrait set may create up to 9 image options. I personally review every one and only approve the portraits that truly look like your dog and meet my quality standards.

You'll receive every approved portrait as a high-resolution digital file. Depending on the source photos and final results, your gallery may include anywhere from 3 to 9 finished images.

In short: if it's beautiful, accurate, and worthy of delivery, it's included.

Some generated images may be close, but not quite right. I remove anything with odd details, inaccurate markings, strange eyes, unnatural features, distorted anatomy, or anything that does not feel worthy of your pet's memory.

The final number depends on the quality of the source photos and how well each finished portrait captures your dog.

Clear photos work best. Choose images where your dog's face, eyes, markings, and expression are easy to see.

The best source photos usually have:

  • good lighting
  • a clear view of the face
  • sharp eye detail
  • minimal blur
  • your dog as the main subject

Phone photos are perfectly fine as long as they are clear.

Sometimes, yes. Many memorial portraits are created from older photos, and I'll do my best with what you have.

That said, very blurry, dark, tiny, or heavily cropped photos may limit what can be created. If I don't think I can create something that meets my quality standards, I'll let you know.

Likeness matters. A lot.

I personally review the portraits before anything is delivered and remove images that don't accurately represent your dog. My goal is not just to make a pretty dog picture. It needs to feel like your dog.

Yes. You'll choose the portrait styles you'd like before submitting your order. Each style gives the artwork a different feel, from lighthearted and fun to more classic, elegant, or memorial-inspired.

Yes. This offering was created especially for families who wish they had one more beautiful portrait of a beloved pet.

It can also be used for senior dogs, once-in-a-lifetime pets, or simply a dog you never want to forget.

Yes. A Forever Portrait can make a thoughtful gift for someone who recently lost a pet or for anyone who would love a special keepsake portrait of their dog.

If you're ordering as a gift, make sure you have access to clear photos of the dog and permission to use them.

Prefer to let the recipient pick the photos and styles themselves? You can purchase a gift card instead.

Most portrait galleries are ready within about 48 hours after your order is submitted.

If the photos need extra review or the results need additional refinement, it may take a little longer. I'd rather take the extra time than send something that isn't right.

You'll receive a private gallery containing every portrait I personally approve from your set. The approved portraits are delivered as high-resolution digital files suitable for sharing, saving, and printing.

Prints, canvas, framed artwork, and metal prints may be ordered separately.

The base offer includes high-resolution digital portraits. Physical artwork is not included unless specifically stated in the package.

After seeing your finished portraits, you may choose to order canvas, framed prints, metal prints, or other wall art options.

Yes. The included high-resolution digital files may be printed for personal use.

For the best results, I recommend ordering professional prints or wall art through Breen Photo, especially if you want the portrait to look its best on canvas, metal, or framed artwork.

If your photos are not suitable, I'll let you know. In many cases, you may be able to send alternate photos.

If I can't create at least one portrait that meets my quality standards, your order will be refunded.

This offer works best for one dog at a time.

If you would like a portrait with multiple pets together, or you want separate portraits for several dogs, please contact me for a custom option.

The standard Forever Portrait offer is based on the available portrait styles you choose during ordering.

If you have something more custom in mind, such as a specific background, theme, memorial concept, or multiple-photo artwork, please reach out about a custom memorial artwork option.

The samples show the general style and feeling of each portrait option, but every dog and every source photo is different.

Your finished portraits will be created from your dog's photos and reviewed for likeness, quality, and emotional feel. The exact result will vary based on the photos provided.

No. A professional photo is not required.

Many portraits can be created from clear phone photos. The most important thing is that your dog's face, eyes, and markings are visible.

A good memorial portrait should feel like your dog, not just look decorative.

The best results usually come from photos that show their expression clearly: the tilt of the head, the softness in the eyes, the little spark that made them who they were. That's what I'm looking for when I review the finished portraits.
